Tunnel inspection (SCADA)

Trains equipped with suitable sensors and front mount cameras can be used for routine and periodic tunnel inspections perhaps even while driving in normal operation. This reduces the need for frequently and periodic manned tunnel inspections, or even line closures especially for inaccessible track and tunnel areas. Such preventative tunnel monitoring activities can be an integrated part of the track maintenance concept that reduces down times of metro sections.

Characteristics:

  • Continuous monitoring of tunnel areas
  • Continuous monitoring of the rail track
  • Generation of track monitoring data
  • Reduced inspection intervals and requirements
  • Reduced operational risks and improved security
  • Data comparison between stored and new information
  • Early warning function
  • Conservation of evidence data
