> Installation starts at Metro Munich
|
 |

 |
Recently, Telefunken Racoms has installed
the first Radio Base Stations (RBS) in a new constructed tunnel segment of Munich metro line U3 between the stations "Moosach" and "Olympia Einkaufzentrum". The single track tunnel segment comprises 3 metro stations and one stabling yard at a length of approximately 2 km. The
stabling yard and each tunnel track is covered by several radio base stations (RBS). For this
segment, the radio coverage in total is 2.2 km by an average distance between the RBS of about 450
meter.
During the next weeks,
this new track segment will be commissioned before it will be officially inaugurated by mid of December. One
part of the commisioning activities is the commissioning of the radio system, the integration of the radio
system in the fixed data network and the integration of the sub systems for passenger counting (APC), entertainment, passenger
information (PIS) and online CCTV systems.
After final commissioning, Stadtwerke Muenchen (SWM) will have a fully integrated
TRainCom MT radio system, which enables a transparent communication
between train and track without any noticeable service degradation. After an intensive design phase the new radio system will help now to improve the operations of
the metro operator.
Within further steps, successive installations of up to 250 RBS and quite a few trains will follow to complement the first sections. |

During the previous ITCS
Conference in Darmstadt (27.+ 28.10.2010), members of the german VDV (Verband
deutscher Verkehrsunternehmen) have presented the latest news and
discussed about the "Intermodal Transport Control System"
implementations.
Telefunken Racoms has used this platform to present its
TRainCom radio communication solutions suitable to support various kind of
transport control systems.
Conference members and
urban transport organisations have taken advantage of this event to
discuss their demands with their suppliers. |

The TRainCom TrafficNet
(TN) radio network solution is primarily intended for mobile users within public
transport systems, which require a reliable communication link with a broadband
character. For urban and rural areas, an intelligent combination of public
network services (GSM/UMTS), own wireless networks (WiFi, DMR) and adequate
network routing features, provide a smart connectivity even for large
fleets.
The embedded routing
mechanisms of TN make it easy to exchange data in mobile transport systems, even
if usual wireless connectivity is unstable or
unpredictable.
Typical applications in
this field are:
- GPS positioning
data
- Diagnosis
information
- Voice services for driver
and passenger purposes
- Online passenger
information
- Fleet tracking
- Mobile passenger internet
connectivity
- CCTV surveillance and
download services
- Passenger counting
data
- Time table
updates
They all take advantage of
the mobile connectivity provided by TrafficNet system
solutions.More information on
this system solution are available here.
